Get Stuff Done Day

Things have been quiet lately, so to celebrate the end of classes and RoboCup, we’re having Get Stuff Done Day, an event extraordinaire that will include coding, food, scrimmages and more.

Us Open wrap up

Saturday night was semi-finals for Robocup, which saw the NBites succomb to CMU after a brave fight and UPenn stealing the game from WPI in an exciting match.

Sunday was a very exciting day, with the first game being a fight for third place between the NBites and WPI. After being tied 1-1 at half time with a beautiful back kick goal by the Bites, the Bowdoin team managed to take the victory and defeated new-comer WPI, who had a very impressive run at the tournament for a new team.

The final between CMU and UPenn was a real heart-stopper, with both teams ending up being tied after two whole halves. The game ended up being decided by penalty kicks, and CMU became the victor with 3-2 in penalty kicks.

Final standings:
1. CMurfs
2. UPennalizers
3. Northern BItes
4. WPI Warriors

All in all it was a good weekend for Robocup. Hope to see you all in Turkey!

switching tool to the ant build system

I finalized several days ago an ant build script for the TOOL (Totally Operating Omniuseful Linesofcodehackedtogether) and it’ll be pushed into the nbites master soon. It is somewhat faster than make, the code is cleaner, it’s more easily extensible and automatically adds jars to the path, but the best thing is probably that you can just import the ant build file in an IDE to import tool (which will hopefuly encourage more rookies to juggle with the code). All you have to do is run the command

ant

Of course, as any part of the tool, it’s imperfect since it still relies on make to make the TOOLVisionLink library (which is acceptable since you only do it once).

Cheers,
