Tenth Circle Hot Sauce

January 31, 2021 By Laura Chatellier, FSU '23

tenth-circle-hot-sauce-etsy-2020A 10th Circle Hot Sauce original creation that takes amazingly flavorful and complimentary ingredients, then prepares them with love, and combines them to end with what will I hope will be your new favorite Hot Sauce!

Ghost to Hell is possibly our most complex combination of flavors and ingredients, in addition to using Ghost Peppers (bhut jolokia). This delicious and multi layered sauce has flavors you will not find in other sauces on the market; from roasted pistachios, to even having a dash of pumpkin, your pallet will be delighted as the heat starts to build.

Lots of care and time goes into making our small batch Hot Sauces, and you will be able to appreciate the effort, once you try it on your favorite food!

9 Circles of Hell Hot Sauces and Spice Blends

January 27, 2021 By Laura Chatellier, FSU '23

nine-circles-of-hell-hot-sauce-and-spice-blend-2020

“Perhaps a long, hot walk, but a walk none the less. There is such a diverse pepper combination that is difficult to peg a dominate flavor source. I see the listed ingredients are not in order by scoville heat unit scale measure but in a manner that each pepper’s heat compliments each other. Remember the flavor curve? This was excellent.   Well done 9 Circles. The chicken was wonderful as well. I look forward to adding this spice mix to my kitchen inventory.

“The pork loin and the chicken breast that were rubbed with the brown sugar spice mix were obviously not as hot. But for the folks that can’t really handle the heat, but want to be bold enough and try the flavors of these wonderful peppers, this mix works. The brown sugar calmed the intense heat as provided by all these peppers. Ultimately, play around with the spice mix and see with what works for you heat wise.

“I’m happy somebody had the creativity and balls to develop and make this mix. The pepper combination worked well. I have had my fair share of hot pepper mixes, but 9 Circles Of HELL did their homework and produced a product worthy of the 9 dissentions of hell.” [. . .]    –Stephen Bishop, Perfect Meal Today, July 19, 2015.

Seventh Circle Hot Sauces

January 20, 2021 By Laura Chatellier, FSU '23

seventh-circle-hot-sauce-2019“Seventh Circle is a boutique hot sauce brand focused on unique flavor combinations, natural ingredients, and small batch production. The name is derived from Dante’s Inferno. In this story, the seventh circle of hell is reserved for those who have committed violence. Hot sauce fiends could be seen as committing violence upon themselves. Through texture, color, and imagery I wanted to create a cohesive brand that represents it’s namesake and would be attractive to hot sauce aficionados. The first step in creating the brand was constructing a logo. The logo is the vehicle that drives a brand, and is part of all touch points. In exploring the logo, I wanted to create a mark that was easily recognizable and conveyed the brand’s messaging in a simple but clever way. The phrase ‘You reap what you sow’ stuck out in my mind, as the seventh circle of hell is for those who have committed violence, and in this case on themselves. I went with the scythe, and illustrated it to be in the shape of the number seven.” [. . .]    —Jake Neece Design and Illustrations, 2019.

“REVIEW: Taco Bell Diablo Sauce”

January 18, 2021 By Jasmine George, FSU '24

“Taco Bell has opened a gate to hell. Proof: “Bell” rhymes with “hell.” Convenient. Seven layer burrito? Nine circles of hell. And there are actually nine layers if you count the tortilla and the Pepto Bismol that is actually essential. And latest of all, they’ve introduced Diablo sauce. Diablo, for the Latin-impaired, is Spanish for the mother-bleeping Devil. Maybe some of you know Diablo as “Stop playing that computer game and come to bed,” but for non-nerds they aren’t even trying to hide it. It’s called Devil sauce. Taco Bell has conjured El Diablo and is feeding us its hot fluids.

“Other hell ties: The Devil is, like, half goat and Taco Bell does NOT serve goat because then we would be eating the Devil’s relatives; “run for the (south) border” can be simplified to “run south” and south (down) is where hell is; and somehow they consider cinnamon Cheetos a dessert. Unholy.”   –Kevin, The Impulsive Buy, 2015

Dan T’s Inferno Hot Sauces

“It began as a flicker in the eye of culinary adventurer and graphic designer Dan Taylor when he decided to get serious about a sauce recipe he’d concocted while he was in university. The sauce for chicken wings quickly became a great hit with friends and family. With the dawning knowledge that the recipe was more than just a wing sauce, Dan T’s Inferno Spiced Cayenne Sauce was born.
The name is a saucy play on Dante’s Inferno, the first book of the 13th century poem The Divine Comedy, which describes the poet Dante’s allegoric descent into hell.”    —Dant Ts
