This semester, I have explored databases from both technical and sociological standpoints. \u00a0As part of my project<\/a>, I have reviewed and created existing MySQL tutorials. \u00a0The goal of these blog posts is to demystify databases for Bowdoin – more specifically, DCSI – students.<\/p>\n

Here<\/a>, I’ve created a summary of useful terms to provide a brief, basic orientation to databases.<\/p>\n

I have analyzed three different existing tutorial resources:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. MySQL Tutorial from TutorialsPoint<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. SQL Tutorial from W3Schools<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. MySQL Tutorial from Oracle<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I have also created two walkthrough tutorials of my own:<\/p>\n

    1. MySQL Download and Setup for Mac OS X<\/a><\/li>\n
    2. Creating a Database Using Sequel Pro<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Databases are powerful tools. \u00a0While they may seem daunting to use, any DCSI student is capable of learning how to create and use them on their own. \u00a0Enjoy!<\/p>\n
