{"id":5694,"date":"2016-09-12T21:34:50","date_gmt":"2016-09-12T21:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchbdev.wpengine.com\/environmental-studies-newsletter\/?p=5694"},"modified":"2016-09-12T21:34:50","modified_gmt":"2016-09-12T21:34:50","slug":"internship-opportunity-special-events-internship-fall-2016-semester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.bowdoin.edu\/environmental-studies-newsletter\/internship\/internship-opportunity-special-events-internship-fall-2016-semester\/","title":{"rendered":"Internship Opportunity: Special Events Internship Fall 2016 semester"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Special Events Internship Position Description<\/strong><br \/>\nFMI: Tanya Swain, Project Director<br \/>\ntswain@mainefoodstrategy.org or 207.592.4369<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description<\/strong><br \/>\nUnder the direction of the Maine Food Strategy Project Coordinator, the intern will observe and assist with outreach and organizing for meetings and events related to convening partners working on strengthening various components of Maine\u2019s food system.<br \/>\n<strong>General responsibilities may include:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting with the planning and coordination of meetings and events<br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting in communications around event management including timelines, calendars and reports<br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting with event outreach and promotion including social media<br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting with onsite event management and set-up<br \/>\n<strong>Specific responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting with special events invite and registration process<br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting with the development and maintenance of mailing, media and guest lists<br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting in collecting and analyzing evaluation information<br \/>\n\u2022 Assisting in on-site event execution to include set up, break-down and AV support<br \/>\n\u2022 Notetaking for collaborative meetings<br \/>\n<strong>Intern will gain and\/or improve upon his or her<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 General communication skills<br \/>\n\u2022 Understanding of inner workings of nonprofit organization<br \/>\n\u2022 Planning Meetings &amp; Logistical Support for Events<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of best practices in meeting facilitation and conflict resolution<br \/>\n\u2022 Understanding of grassroots organizing and systems to support multi-organizational collaboration<br \/>\n<strong>Qualifications<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Strong interpersonal, verbal (including phone work) and written communication skills<br \/>\n\u2022 Basic computer processing skills including Microsoft Office and Internet<br \/>\n\u2022 Interest in the food systems, economic community development and\/or nonprofit sector<br \/>\nPreference will be given to college juniors and seniors and those seeking academic credit.<br \/>\n<strong>Time Commitment &amp; Compensation<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a part-time internship (8 &#8211; 12 hours per week) beginning Fall Semester 2016; the hours and time commitment are flexible to be set between the supervisor and the internship candidate prior to the start of the internship.<br \/>\n$10 per hour;
