{"id":6951,"date":"2018-01-12T17:25:03","date_gmt":"2018-01-12T17:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchbdev.wpengine.com\/environmental-studies-newsletter\/?p=6951"},"modified":"2018-01-12T17:25:03","modified_gmt":"2018-01-12T17:25:03","slug":"internship-unpaid-environmental-health-strategy-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.bowdoin.edu\/environmental-studies-newsletter\/internship\/internship-unpaid-environmental-health-strategy-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Internship (unpaid): Environmental Health Strategy Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH INTERNSHIP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The Environmental Health Strategy Center is seeking talented, hard-working, passionate candidates to work on local and national campaigns to protect communities from chemicals linked with cancer, asthma, and other health problems. <\/em><em>\u00a0This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, science-based policy organization and build your skills in community organizing, environmental health policy, and campaign advocacy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Activities may include:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work on local and national policy campaigns<\/li>\n<li>Build relationships with target constituencies such as cancer-affected communities, local businesses, and parent groups<\/li>\n<li>Organize outreach events such as films and workshops<\/li>\n<li>Recruit activists to join rallies and media events<\/li>\n<li>Reach out to supporters to take action through phone calls, emails, and social media<\/li>\n<li>Conduct outreach at fairs and festivals throughout the state<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Qualifications:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Outstanding communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated work ethic<\/li>\n<li>Strong team player<\/li>\n<li>Highly motivated and able to work independently<\/li>\n<li>Serious commitment to social justice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Hours and compensation:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Full and part time positions available. This is an unpaid position, however we are happy to work with students to secure institutional funding and\/or course credit.<br \/>\n<strong>* NOTE:<\/strong> <em>Bowdoin Career Planning Center may have funding for unpaid internships<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Deadline:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Applications will be reviews on a rolling basis until positions are filled.
