CALL FOR APPLICANTS for the Eco-Informatics Summer Institute (EISI) for summer 2018\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please note: \u00a0Application deadline is\u00a0February 02 , 2018!<\/p>\n

The Eco-Informatics Summer Institute (EISI) (http:\/\/agsci.oregonstate.edu\/eisi<\/a>)\u00a0will be held at the HJ Andrews Experimental<\/p>\n

Forest (http:\/\/andrewsforest.oregonstate.edu\/<\/a>) in the beautiful Oregon Cascade mountains.<\/p>\n

WHO<\/strong>: Continuing undergraduate students from all over the US who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or its possessions
\nWHAT<\/strong>: Summer institute experience, stipend, and\u00a0housing provided.
\nWHEN<\/strong>: June 18th \u2013 August 24th, 2018

\nWHERE<\/strong>: HJ Andrews Experimental Forest on the\u00a0McKenzie River and at OSU in Corvallis, OR.<\/p>\n

Eco-Informatics, an emerging discipline, integrates mathematics, computer science, statistics, and engineering with the study and management of<\/p>\n

ecosystems.\u00a0 Through a ten-week undergraduate\/early graduate research experience, the\u00a0EISI\u00a0will provide interdisciplinary training for young scientists to<\/p>\n

help manage ecosystems in our technologically sophisticated, globalized world.\u00a0Through the integration of research and education, effective mentoring, and<\/p>\n

hands-on experiences at the HJ Andrews, participants will gain:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0 \u00a0 Valuable research experience in Eco-Informatics and in their own disciplines.<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0 \u00a0 The foundation and opportunities to develop and seek support for their own graduate program, including a peer-reviewed research proposal.<\/li>\n
  3. \u00a0 \u00a0 The training to become outstanding interdisciplinary scientists and effective contributors to the science and management of ecosystems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Participants will receive:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \u00a0A total stipend of $5,000.<\/li>\n
    2. \u00a0Free lodging at the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest and on the OSU campus<\/li>\n
    3. \u00a0The opportunity for down time and group activities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
