{"id":7825,"date":"2019-03-11T20:50:52","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T20:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchbdev.wpengine.com\/environmental-studies-newsletter\/?p=7825"},"modified":"2019-03-11T21:10:16","modified_gmt":"2019-03-11T21:10:16","slug":"job-education-events-coordinator-downeast-lakes-land-trust-deadline-to-apply-3-31-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.bowdoin.edu\/environmental-studies-newsletter\/job-opportunity\/job-education-events-coordinator-downeast-lakes-land-trust-deadline-to-apply-3-31-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Education &amp; Events Coordinator: Downeast Lakes land Trust (Deadline to apply 3\/31\/19)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sectionHeaderTitle\">\n<h2>Education and Events Coordinator, <b>Downeast Lakes Land Trust<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sectionContent\">\n<p>The Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Grand Lake Stream, with a mission to contribute to the long-term economic and environmental well-being of the Downeast Lakes region through the conservation and exemplary management of its forests and waters.\u00a0 DLLT sustainably manages the 55,678-acre Downeast Lakes Community Forest for wildlife habitat, forest products, and public recreation.<\/p>\n<p>We have built an outstanding outdoor education program, and our goal is to maintain the excellence of this program.\u00a0 In addition, we are always seeking to build stronger connections between local residents, visitors, and the natural resources that sustain the economy, all while educating future generations and building their appreciation for the natural environment and sustainable use of forest resources. \u00a0We seek an energetic, motivated individual to fill the role of Education and Events Coordinator (EEC).<\/p>\n<p>The EEC will lead DLLT\u2019s education program and assume substantial responsibilities for event planning. The EEC works under the supervision of the Deputy Director.\u00a0 This is a full-time position which will require some work on weekends, holidays, and during non-traditional hours.<\/p>\n<p>Specific areas of responsibility include:<\/p>\n<p>Education Program Development &amp; Implementation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the EEC will develop and lead education programs that support DLLT\u2019s mission and initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Foster partnerships with local schools, camps, and other organizations.Evaluate and report program outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Outreach and Event Planning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the EEC will assist in developing print, online, and social media outreach materials and donor communications.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and coordinate outreach and special events, and will provide information on and promote DLLT programs, plans, and policies to the DLLT community.<\/li>\n<li>Represent DLLT at public events and communicate DLLT\u2019s work to broad audiences.<br \/>\nContribute to DLLT\u2019s ongoing efforts to develop relationships with diverse donors and supporters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Committee Support:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare reports to the committees and board and participates in the Education Committee meetings and other meetings as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Volunteer Development:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in development of DLLT\u2019s volunteer program, including recruitment and acknowledgement of volunteers.<br \/>\nManage volunteers working in the EEC\u2019s areas of responsibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Administrative Support:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist other staff as needed to promote DLLT\u2019s mission and achieve objectives related to all of DLLT\u2019s diverse programs and projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Location:<br \/>\n<\/strong>The position is based in Grand Lake Stream, Maine.\u00a0 This is a small, rural community (winter pop. 100) with a traditional natural resource-based economy focused on outdoor recreational tourism and the timber products industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\nMust have demonstrated educational experience, including teaching in both classroom and outdoor settings.<br \/>\nOutstanding interpersonal skills with children and adults of all ages, and a demonstrated ability to form partnerships with individuals, agencies, and organizations are required.\u00a0 Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical.
