As the membership coordinator for Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters, I’m reaching out to connect with you about our internship program in case you have some students who would be interested in joining us for this summer or fall.<\/p>\n
We are currently seeking one or two interns (fellows) for the summer and an additional one or two for the fall. We are open to fellow-proposed projects that align with the goals of our\u00a0strategic plan<\/a>, and we are particularly interested in increasing our capacity around development of the Katahdin Woods and Waters Junior Ranger Program and\/or research and planning around place-based education in the Katahdin Region with our\u00a0Katahdin Learning Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you’re willing, we’d love for you to share our internship description with your students, and we encourage them to reach out to us directly if they’re interested in an internship this coming summer or fall. A brief description is below, and more information–including what past fellows have worked on–is available on the\u00a0Fellows page<\/a>\u00a0of our website:<\/p>\n —The Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters (aka Friends) Fellowship Program provides opportunities for students to expand their education in non-profit management, program development, environmental policy, fundraising, and community development through hands-on experience. Fellows receive credit from an accredited higher-education institution as part of an internship with Friends. Before starting a fellows program, an interested student should reach out to Friends staff to set up a time to discuss interests, background, time commitment, and potential collaboration. Fellows work with staff to develop goals and activities that they can share with their academic advisor prior to beginning the program.
