{"id":84,"date":"2015-06-09T15:23:22","date_gmt":"2015-06-09T15:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/researchbdev.wpengine.com\/rothbart-temperament-questionnaires\/?page_id=84"},"modified":"2025-06-09T14:29:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T14:29:22","slug":"the-adult-temperament-questionnaire","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.bowdoin.edu\/rothbart-temperament-questionnaires\/instrument-descriptions\/the-adult-temperament-questionnaire\/","title":{"rendered":"The Adult Temperament Questionnaire  (ATQ)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-87\" src=\"https:\/\/research.bowdoin.edu\/rothbart-temperament-questionnaires\/files\/2015\/06\/adults.jpg\" alt=\"Adult Faces\" width=\"200\" height=\"193\" \/>The Adult Temperament Questionnaire (ATQ) was adapted from the Physiological Reactions Questionnaire developed by Derryberry and Rothbart\u00a0(1988) and includes general constructs of effortful control, negative affect, extraversion\/surgency, and orienting sensitivity.<\/p>\n<p>The general constructs are referred to as factor scales (i.e., they have resulted in superfactors) and\u00a0the sub-constructs are referred to as scales.<br \/>\nThe ATQ standard form includes 177 items and the short form 77 items.\u00a0 Both forms include the same constructs.\u00a0 In addition to including general constructs and sub-constructs,\u00a0the standard form also sub-divides many of the sub-constructs into homogeneous item clusters (see long form scoring instructions).
