Starting in 1948, <i>Idilio<\/i>, a weekly women\u2019s magazine in Argentina, ran a column titled \u201cPsychoanalysis Will Help You,\u201d for which readers sent in their dreams to be analyzed. Each column was accompanied by a photomontage illustration of the dream created by Grete Stern, a German-born photographer and graphic designer who had relocated to Buenos Aires. In <i>Dream 28<\/i>, alternatively titled \u201cLove Without Illusion,\u201d a well-dressed, middle-class woman recoils from\u2014or perhaps surveys cautiously\u2014a masculine figure with a tortoise\u2019s head, pointed mouth wide open and ready to snap.
