New Multilingual Mural at Kate Furbish Elementary

This past weekend, a group of Bowdoin volunteers, as well as staff at the elementary school, helped paint a mural led by Portland artist Ryan Adams. The mural features “welcome” in six of the languages spoken by students at Kate Furbish Elementary, and is located in the school’s central hallway.

The mural project was supported by a number of community members: Bowdoin students who were awarded a Ladd Fund for Community Engaged Learning Mini-Grant; Asian Studies, Africana Studies, LACLaS, Romance Languages & Literatures departments at Bowdoin; Multilingual Mainers; and the Brunswick School Department.
