Welcome to the Multilingual Mainers video library!
This library was started by Bowdoin College students in Professor Margaret Boyle’s fall 2020 community-engaged course, Teaching and Learning Languages. In an effort to support the transition to distance learning by Brunswick schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, students in this course created teaching videos informed by recent scholarship in language acquisition theory and intercultural communication. Current students continue to create new content for elementary classrooms wanting to support the instruction of languages other than English and/or the home languages of their multilingual students.
This curated selection of videos, which seek to highlight the intersections between world language pedagogy and anti-bias education, may be used as a resource to help early elementary students develop language skills, gain insight into other cultures, increase awareness of their own identities, and learn to embrace differences.
Be sure to check back frequently for new videos!
