Together for ME is a project designed to foster early understanding of language diversity and tolerance among primary school children. In collaboration with Multilingual Mainers, the initiative translates and creates multilingual recordings of picture books. Led by multilingual students and faculty, this effort highlights language diversity, promotes language access, and builds a sense of belonging for multilingual students in the Brunswick community and beyond.
The oral recordings were created by students in Dr. Puma Ninacuri’s course, “Intermediate Spanish I”. The following students worked to translate various children’s books: Candice Ballarin, Camille Baratier, Justas Bardauskas, Sophie Brett, Court Callis, Finn Furtney, Dylan Herring, Elinor Hershkowitz, Sharifa Hunarwar, Neissa Jean, Sarah Kalonji, Abderrahim Kandoussi, Allison Korn, Olivia Mann, Elias McEaneney, Ray Mitchell, Cordell Perne, Masha Pesniak, Liam Rodriguez, Doreen Wanjiru, Dakota Wilson, and Abigail Woldgebriel. Additionally, students received support from course assistants Julia Finke and Luisa Robles Vega.
