Submission Opportunity: Call for Poster Abstracts, Maine Sustainability & Water Conference

The 2019 Maine Sustainability and Water Conference, held in the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine on March 28th, is calling for student poster submissions.

The submission deadline for poster abstracts is Thursday, March 7, 2019. Abstracts can be submitted online through the conference website. This year, the juried poster competition will include three judging categories: graduate, undergraduate and high-school.

Posters invited for display will address one or more aspects of the following:

  • Water quality/quantity. These may include chemical, biological, hydrological, and geochemical aspects of surface and ground waters, and their policy and economic implications.
  • Sustainability. These may include implementation and evaluation of policies and practices that promote economic development while protecting ecosystem health and fostering community well-being.

Submission Opportunity: Youth Environmental Blog Contest

Hello! My name is Robert Walton, and I am a junior student at UMass Amherst and the President of the nonprofit organization Greening Forward. We are an organization run by young people that works to improve the involvement of other young people in protecting our environment. We do this largely through hosting youth conferences and giving grants to student-led groups to do environmental projects.

This year, we have decided to expand our programs by holding an environmental blog contest. For this, we are asking students in college and high school to write environmental-related articles and send them in to us. Many of these articles will be featured on our own blog, and a few have the opportunity to win a cash prize. We believe that this contest will provide a great platform for younger people to write about issues that really matter to them, and give them an opportunity to connect with others who are passionate about the same thing.

The main page for the contest is linked here, and it has all the information regarding the contest in further detail. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
