Internship Opportunity: Earth Economics Internship (Application Deadline: 4/1)

Earth Economics is a global leader in science-based economics. We work with leaders from government, industry, and NGOs to identify and place a dollar value on the benefits nature provides. Our team of economists and analysts focus on the world’s most urgent challenges to healthy ecosystems including working lands, forests, freshwater, and oceans to support resilient communities.

Student interns have an opportunity to apply their knowledge of economics to natural capital valuation projects while working to expanding our ecosystem valuation database. 

Anticipated Tasks:

  • Identifying and documenting ecosystem values from published academic environmental economics literature
  • Conducting research on valuation methods and gathering data to support Earth Economics’ projects and strategy. Subject areas may include recreation, agriculture, green infrastructure financing, and legal damages
  • Outreach to publicize significant studies conducted by Earth Economics
  • Assisting development of community and professional workshops and webinars

Internship Benefits

  • Gain experience in economic analysis, systems thinking, and data analysis
  • Learn to apply systems thinking to critical environmental issues
  • Create an independent project that will showcase their understanding of natural capital valuation and its practical application. This project may include a blog, webinar, or conference presentation proposal.
  • Work directly with the project team leader to expand the number of values available in Earth Economics’ valuation repository while gaining exposure to a leading platform for conducting natural capital evaluation
