I just added a pre-compiled binary of AiboConnect to the root /dog/ directory, which is just an quickly-accessible AiboConnect for seeing the thresholded vision image while the dog is executing its own brain. Useful for debugging, i’ve found. Use it exactly like any other aiboConnect: ./dogSight

Meeting Roundup
Great meeting today guys. Lot to do before Atlanta, but it’ll certainly be fun. For all of those who can make it, all-night pizza computer-science-4-life bender tomorrow night in the labs (wednesday). I’m so jazzed.
INS script, Head engine
Couple of recent updates: the ‘ins’ script now fails to unmount the memstick when compilation fails (very good, thanks Jeremy). Also, we’re now exclusively using the UPENN head engine. Rock on. AiboConnect you can still choose between the two by calling ‘heads’ (no engine) and ‘headeng’ (head engine).
OpenGL testing
we’re nearly there on getting a near-real time OpenGL app running via AiboConnect that gives updates on the robot’s localization information to a client computer. When this thing starts to work well, it will be so rad. In the meantime, we have to really smooth out our distance readings.
Better Frame Rate
Hey–I just commented out an errant AssertReady I found in the TCP protocol stuff that deals with AiboConnect, and suddenly the framerate–even when you do our full vision processing–is significantly faster. This is quite cool.
More on Wireless
We’re on the newly configured AP now, and all the wireless stuff we do should be working well. The IPs have changed to a different subnet–this has changed the ips but the dns’s haved moved over accordingly. If for some strange reason you desire to connect via the new IPs, ping the dns’s to discover the proper ips. The ips listed on the back of every aibo are inaccurate, currently.
Re: The Wireless
News on the wireless – robotics is now to have its own virtual lan on the Bowdoin network! AP’s will allow access to both the normal wireless network, for computers, and assign the dogs to their own broadcast-enabled vlan.
Aibos15, 16
Aibo15, Aibo16 now fully functional thanks to the kind folks at NOC.
John Keimel is working on our UDP broadcast issue and is currently setting up an AP just for ourselves. Once finished, we can really get testing with our communications module.
